US Logistics headed for Afghanistan depend on Russian Permission

Obama and Medvedev announced today that the Russian Federation will allow us to further expand our access to Russian air space to include the transportation of  military logistics and troops to Afghanistan. Previously the agreement was restricted only  to “non-military” supplies. Far from a good thing this makes us even more dependable on the Russians for our effort in Afghanistan. I  predicted just this four months ago when I wrote the following :

“He[Putin] will seem to object, at first, at the mere thought of allowing anything but non-military supplies to travel through Russia. Then begrudgingly he will agree to allow a small amount of military supplies to get through. Then more and more until there is critical mass. At that point he will wait for the Afghans to mount an offense, perhaps even coordinate with them and suddenly he will come up with a pretext to cut off the supply lines.” For a detailed look at how we got to this point please read The Looming Afghanistan Disaster

Putin is following his plan , as I predicted. Reluctantly he is allowing us to  airlift military supplies to Afghanistan over Russian air space  but is not allowing us to transport heavy equipment such as tanks.

Worry not that will come next and then he will find a pretext to  lower the boom on the hapless charlatan from Chicago and the stranded American troops. It pains me deeply to say that the Russians are right on track and that  the”Blessed One” is leading America to a blood bath.

Update.

Col. Ralph Peters just agreed with us that becoming addicted to the Russian Supply Line is a sucker’s game and that Putin will use it to blackmail us into, at the very  least,  keeping out mouth shut as the Russians commit whatever military or political plans they have.
