Here is what the CDC had to say about the Mexican Swine Flu situation “During week 28 (July 12-18, 2009), influenza activity decreased in the United States”

Yeah no kidding, if you tell everyone who has flu symptoms to stay home instead of going to the doctor sure there will be less “influenza activity”

Reas assured that once you get pat that first sentance the pictures isn’t so encouraging :

  • Over 99% of all subtyped influenza A viruses being reported to CDC were novel influenza A (H1N1) viruses.
  • The proportion of deaths attributed to pneumonia and influenza (P&I) was above the epidemic threshold.
  • Five influenza-associated pediatric deaths were reported and four of the five deaths were associated with novel influenza A (H1N1) virus infection.
