The incumbent democrats are ahead by 1% over the challenging Socialists and have declared victory.
Results are still being contested, however, the fact that the Socialists were unable to win against an incumbent party in these rough economic times speaks volumes about the lack of support that socialist ideas have in Albania as in the rest of Europe.
