Seven of our soldiers were killed in Afghanistan in the past four days.  They weren’t killed in fire fights where they’d  have chance to shoot back, no, they were cowardly murdered with IED bombs. As we should have learned from Iraq IEDs are the preferred weapon of the terrorists. What we should have also learned is that  surging enough troops to take and keep strategic areas areas of the country is key to preventing and eventually eliminating IED attacks.  Our troops  paid in blood to learn that occupying terrorist infested areas and gaining the trust of the population by providing long term protection is the best way to gain the intelligence needed to kill the terrorists and pacify the country.

This is exactly why General Patreus  and General McChrystal are risking their careers in order to make sure that there will be enough troops in Afghanistan to stop the IED attacks. They know that every day that Obama delays the  troops surge  Americans will die- and so they do!

The initial number of troops that McChrystal wanted to request is 69,000 but apparently due to political pressure he had to lower it to 45,000 troops.  Will this reduced number be enough to get the mission done? I don’t know but McChrystal and Patreus do so I will respectfully defer to them and trust their decision. If only Obama would do the same!

Alas Obama and US interests, and one can argue the interests of freedom loving people worldwide are on different pages . Instead of wholeheartedly endorsing the victory in Afghanistan Obama betrayed America and our troops by making some half assed statement about how he is “embarrassed” by  “victory”. Well we are embarrassed by Obama and we could just leave it at that except that there are lives on the line and not just in Afghanistan. Can you even imagine the blood shed and terrorism that will be unleashed upon the world if Obama gives the victory to the taliban terrorists in Afghanistan?

Instead of wholeheartedly endorsing the troop surge as he promised to do in his campaign Obama is betraying America our troops and those who voted for him by coming up with a myriad of cockamamie excuses to not send the needed troops.  I for one can’t think of a single logical reason why Obama is doing this and because of that I have to deduce that he and the Axelrod/Rham Emanuel cabal are just looking to create their golden crisis with which to embarrass and destroy America as they garner dictatorial powers.
