The Government Accountability Office just announced that the Obama administration is illegally keeping a list of law abiding American citizens who own guns. Gun owners have always suspected that the ATF was guilty of these Gestapo tactics and this is the proof.
The ATF claims that there is a glitch in their ability to delete the data, as required by law. If that’s the case then it should be fixed immediately but it doesn’t matter the damage is done. Now there is a list of American gun owners that will be available for a future Hillary or Obama, or other similarly dictatorially inclined politician, to use to harass Americans…or worse.
A government report discovered the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) illegally stockpiles gun owners’ personal information.
The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), the go-to federal oversight agency, conducted an audit of ATF and found it does not remove certain identifiable information, despite the law explicitly mandating it do so. GAO conducted reviews for four data systems, and concluded at least two of ATF’s systems violated official protocols.
There is as of now no congressional investigation scheduled and even if there is does anyone expect Paul Ryan do actually do anything but Obama’s bidding?
